Club Services

The Rotary Club of Victorville is a service club with the motto “Service Above Self” not just a lunch club. These are some of the many projects the club is involved in:

Community Service Director - Dave Leicht

Food Baskets
Food baskets to the needy at Thanksgiving and/or Christmas.

Bone Marrow/Blood Drive Project
Donor matches for bone marrow transplants are identified and placed in the pool to be available for leukemia and/or cancer victims.

Immunization Project
Less than 72% of our children age two and under are adequately immunized. We organize and volunteer at free clinics every 2 months.

City Partnership Projects
City and Community organization collaboration

Gifts for Kids
At Christmas we adopt “Angels” and fulfill their wishes for the Angel Tree (Clothing and Toys).

New Generations Director - Rob Kilpatrick

Junior Rotary Clubs
Students at High, Junior High and Elementary Schools develop service projects and fund raisers as well as their leadership skills.

Interact Symposium
3-day skill and team building camp for the Interact President, the School Advisor and the Rotary Liaison.

Teen Leadership Camp for 8th Graders, Jr. High
3 day leadership camp that stresses “leading yourself” as a first step to leading others.

RYLA for Juniors at High School
3 day leadership camp that develops abilities in an atmosphere of fellowship.

Gerard Brown “Read to Me”
Business people read to kindergartners at a local school and talk about their business or profession.

Literacy
Rotarians & Inter-actors read books to children and give them their own copy.

Vocational Service Director - Marie Langley

Teachers’ Mini-Grants
Money is given to teachers for innovative projects to increase the chances to complete school and LEARN.

High School Scholarships
Students going further: basis, service, financial need, goals and GPA.

College Scholarships
For continuing students at Victor Valley College.

4-Way Speech Contest
High school students incorporate the 4-Way Test in a speech developed and present at a club meeting.

Junior High School students incorporate the 4-Way Test in a speech presented at a club meeting.

Dr. Dale Marsden Elementary 4-Way Speech Contest
Elementary school students incorporate the 4-Way Test in a speech presented at a club meeting.

Individual performance, music contest.

George Hensel Ethics Contest

Ensenada Orphanage
Christmas - Gifts are shared and project work done.

International Youth Exchange - Summer
High school students spend three weeks in a foreign country and then return with the foreign student for three weeks here.

International Youth Exchange - Year
Juniors or Seniors spend an academic year in the foreign country of their choice. We adopt students from other countries for their academic year here, 3-6 months per family.

Sister Club - Ensenada
Fellowship, skills and aid are shared with selected international Rotary clubs.

Group Study Exchange Team (GSE)
Young non-Rotarian, 25- 40 Years old, business and professional people go to countries to study their businesses and professions.

Matching Grants
A worthwhile project overseas is identified - money from the club is matched by District and by Rotary International to quadruple the effect.

Ambassadorial Scholarship
Overseas College Scholarship to promote goodwill and understanding among nations through individuals.

Communications
Publicize club events to the media and publish weekly club bulletin - The Joshua Tree.

Firesides
An evening of fellowship where Rotary information is presented in a social setting.

Fellowships
Events designed for leisure and relaxation. Enjoy a Maverick’s game, a film, a show, dinner or a Mystery Trip. How about a day or overnight Off-Road trip into our area? Or go on the Colorado River Trip September, 2011.

Golf Tournament
Fun, fellowship and funds are shared and raised during this annual event June 2012.

Fund Raiser

Rotary Foundation Director - Margaret Cooker

This funds on-going international projects such as Polio Plus, Ambassadorial Scholarships and matching grants, to name but a few.

Paul Harris Fellow
$1,000.00 over and above dues, fines, etc. to the Foundation in unrestricted funds. ($500.00 matched by Victorville Rotary will make you a Paul Harris Fellow). Paul Harris pin and certificate.

Sustaining Paul Harris
Give at least $100.00 per year to the Foundation. Goal: Paul Harris Fellow. Funds matched by club subject to availability. $500.00 can gain you the international recognition of a Paul Harris Fellow.

Paul Harris Benefactor
Make the Foundation a beneficiary of your life insurance policy, annuity, or will. Blue ribbon.

Paul Harris Society
Become a member of this prestigious society by giving at least $1,000 a year to the Rotary Foundation. Members wear a distinctive gold and blue “ribbon” on their Rotary pin; and receive invitations to special district events.
